In recent years, there have been many advances in the field of dental filling materials. Unlike traditional metal-based filling such as amalgam (silver fillings), we can now bond materials to teeth. This bonding can help in holding compromised tooth structures together, decrease the risk of fractures, and minimize the wedging effect seen in large amalgam fillings.

At Little Big Smiles Family Dentistry, we have chosen the best materials with a proven track record for providing the strongest and most durable bond currently available. By using a strong and durable filling material we can make sure whatever material we use will stay and last long in your mouth. Also, these new generation of composite material have a chameleon effect that makes blending in with surrounding tooth structure virtually seamless. In our office we use composite resin materials for small to medium sized cavities in your mouth. When the tooth is ready for these filling materials, we layer them in small increments to ensure the proper strengthening and setting of these materials. After placement we take the time to smooth and polish the edges. This is important to minimize unsightly staining at the edges or increase the chance of cavities around the fillings. We want you to be happy with all the restorations we place in your mouth, so if you have any problems or concerns after we have placed these restorations, please do not hesitate to come back and let us know.
