Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening can be a rewarding process, not only in making your teeth look pearly white, but also in helping to boost your self-confidence, either at work or with friends. Teeth whitening is not for everyone. Although teeth whitening has been touted by others as an easy and comfortable procedure, it can have some adverse effects on your teeth, if your teeth and gums are not healthy. This is why before we recommend any teeth whitening procedures, Dr. Chen will do a thorough exam to make sure your teeth are strong and gums are healthy. If there are still cavities left or residual gum disease in your mouth, the chemicals inside all the teeth whitening products will corrode your teeth more and cause your gum disease to become more severe.

After your immediate dental issues are taken care of and stabilized, then you will have the option to brighten your smile with some teeth whitening. We can do it in two ways: 1) we could give you take home trays and you can whiten your teeth at your house whenever you have time, or 2) we can whiten your teeth here, at the office. Both the take home and in-office option will help you get the same bright smile you want, they just do it at different speeds. With the in-office option, you can get whiter results faster and we will be able to monitor the whitening progress of your teeth. The whitening systems we use here are proven to be effective and gentle to your mouth. However, there will still be the possibility of teeth sensitivity during or after the procedure. This is why we take care to shield your gums if you choose to whiten in office, or provide custom bleaching trays for you to use at home. After all, we want you to be happy with any of the procedures we do for you, so if you run into any problems or questions, please let us know!
